No one in my neighborhood can figure out what this is. Please see plant in center of photo with large ovate leaves (not agave in foreground or podacarpus in background). Thanks!

Who can identify this tree/shrub?
It looks like its in the rubber tree family or possibly the Croton family. Probably a smaller variety of one of these two.
Reply:some kind of ficus

Is there anywhere in the UK that you can buy Tequiza or order it on-line from?
I was reminising the days of living in San Antonio, Texas and sitting out in the yard with the sun beating down drinking Tequiza (Beer made with blue agave nectar and natural tequila and lime flavours. Made by budweiser) and a thought came too me. Can i get it over here in England. I've looked in all the hight street shops and failed miserably, so i am asking your help. Does anyone know anywhere i might be able to get hold of some, whether high street, cash and carry or by ordering online. If you can help with this and i can get some i might even shout you a beer. Thanks.

Best cheap (college student priced) restaurants in San Diego?
I've compiled a list of restaurants in the San Diego area that people have recommended on the internet. The list is in no particular order and I've never ate at these restaurants. That being said, I was hoping that people would be able to recommend the must-eat restaurants from this list. I guess my maximum price for food is $15. Thanks!

Cheap and Good.
Reply:I would go to Leucadia Pizzeria (not on list) but best teriyaki pizza ever. Mango iced tea is awesome also.

Reply:Point Loma Seafoods is, hands down, one of the best places I've ever eaten. Their regular fish sandwich is awesome and it is 6 or 7 dollars. The atmosphere is a fish-market with a dining area with picnic areas.
Rubio's is also great - the fish tacos are wonderful and they have locations everywhere!!!
Reply:Okay, here's my short list:
Phil's BBQ - THE BEST, always a line! Not to pricey
Corvette Diner - 50's style, cute, good burgers, free entertainment, be prepared to have things tossed at you (straws, bubblegum, etc)
Hodad's - surfer vibe, Great food and prices
Sipz - vegetarian, ok prices, creative food - NO meat
St. Tropez - great for breakfast %26amp; lunch, best pastries
Rei Do Gado - pricey, all you can eat, LOTS %26amp; LOTS of meat, but very good
Not on the list
Nicky Rotten's (won best SD bar), Great burgers
Dick's Last Resort - great drinks, interesting atmosphere, good for getting a little wild (at least on the weekends)
Reply:Sombreros for killer burritos! They're all over San Diego. In Tijuana there's a guy that sells the BEST tamales for $1, he hangs out just past the entrance into Mexico, past the revolving 'doors'.
Reply:Corvette Diner FOR SURE! It's my all time favorite. I love the atmosphere and the food is AMAZING. Try the Rory Burger. Only if you like peanut butter though. :) It's a great place to go with friends. Have fun!

How did I eat yesterday?
Breakfast: 1/2 cup oatmeal with peanut butter, agave nectar
Snack: Strawberries and glass of soymilk w/brown rice protein powder
Lunch: Soynutt butter sandwhich on sprouted whole grain bread with blackberries in between
Snack: Baby carrots w/hummus
Dinner: 5oz tofu on sprouted hemp bread
Snack: Cup of mixed fruit w/ vegan whipped cream
How did I eat yesterday?
You did really good except you didn't eat enough veggies. Add more veggies into your daily food intake. Also if you are a woman, you may not want to consume that much soy on a daily basis.
Other then just adding more veggies, you did great: great on the fruit, the whole grains, protein, having five small meals a day..............
Other things you may want to consider adding to your diet: almonds, walnuts, beans (black, white, lentils, chick peas), quinoa, brown rice, eggs (if your not vegan)
Here is a great website for recipes for vegetarian healthy eating: http://www.101cookbooks.com/index.html

Im having trouble eating?
Today I ate
Breakfast 1/2 cup oatmeal w/ agave nectar and 2 Tbsp peanut butter 550 cal
Lunch: Hummus sandwhich with protein shake 450 cal
Dinner: Tofu sandwhich on sprouted bread 500 cal
I never eat till im full but till im satisfied.
Im trying to gain weight and my nutritionist told me to include 2-3 small snacks in between those meals. But I never feel hungry to..so yesterday when I started to feel a little hungry a couple hours after lunch I tried by having one baby carrot and then I felt full all night but I ate dinner because I knew I had to. Is this bad? Is this because I shrunk my stomach so small when dieting and my body is used to smaller portions.
Im having trouble eating?
no, its not bad. wut i wuld do is eat a small proportion extra each day, and add on to it as the week passes. that way ur body will b used 2 it! jus no when 2 stop addin! ; )
Reply:if you are having trouble with these portions you might want to split up your food a little bit more possibly even into 7 smaller "meals". this might help you body adjust to the food intake so that you will be able to slowly work up to just 3 big meals w/ 2 snacks.
but it also depends on how active you are if you don't burn a lot of calories you won't need a lot of calories

Alex is a guy I like?
We both like each other, but sometimes I dont give the best examples of myself. I'll sometimes come across totally diffrent from what I am. I might do something totally impressive or cute but then I'll slip up and pass the wrong message with the little things I do or say, ushually negitive.
For example:
1.His friend knocked a large bow I agave him off his head and I called his friend stupid without thinking.
2. He hugs a girl I know and I watch the girl walk off, almost possessively.
3. I'll acidently put him down like "your dad actually times you?"
and I'm sur ethere are more
I'm really not liek any of that, I'm just so careless cause I'm nervous? Is there any hope that he can ove rlook these miscomunicated messages? :(
Alex is a guy I like?
say to hinm i get nervous in front of u so i say random things if i was him i would laugh because u called my friend stupid . but also because u like him and get nervous . im sure he would be entertained
Reply:Just be yourself, maybe after you get to know each other a little bit more you'll feel better and you'll stop doing that.
Reply:try to think b4 u say somethin to him
Reply:maybe you guys should go out sometime and get to know each other inside and out and i'm sure the guy you're crushing would like that.. you know... getting to know the true you? maybe if you're both alone, he'll actually see your true personality :) and i'm sure he wont overlook those miscommunicated messages :)
Reply:Listen, what you are doing is okay. You know everybody does mistakes. What you need to do is that don't feel really bad about it and explain to Alex that the things you do are not really mean, and make sure you apologise when you do such a thing. Poeple get mad and do things like this all the time esppecially lovers. So make sure you talk to him and tell him how you feel and that you are not really looking down on him or anything.
Good luck :)
Reply:ok

Reply:um i thin kthe things you are doing aren't neccesaraly misleading, i mean i am not in your position so i don''t know what kind of signals he is sending back but if they are negative as well i would say def. work on that. but if you notice he doesn't care i think thats just you being you ya know? sometimes it does become a habbit for ppl to call ppl stupid or question things like yr dad times you
its just your way of carring on a convo so i ersonally don't think yr doing anything wrong but i would say if you are unhappy with the way you have been acting do something about it and take control over the things that come out of your mouth
hope this helps byeee
Reply:It takes time to grow into your own skin. It's simple hun, just think before you speak. It'll take practice but before you say something run it through in your head...will he take offense, does that hurt his feelings, will that make him feel good about himself?

I lost my favorite energy bar recipe, does anyone have a similar one?
My favorite energy bar recipe had in it, among other things: Mixed nuts (crushed), sessame, flax and millet seeds, rice syrup, agave, evaporated cane juice, (It may have had some sugar, but I forget), coco powder, cinnamon, salt . It was just mixed up and patted between two sheets of waxed paper, not baked or anything. It had no dried fruit that I can remember. The ingredients were all Organic/Whole/Natural, as I remember them. It may have had in it a protine powder or other spices or flavorings, but it's been two years since I saw it, and I just can't remember. Anyone? Thank you.

these have been in my recipe box for a while and are close to what you are looking for, but not exact... I always tell myself that I am going to make homemade bars before i go hiking or biking...alas i always forget and have to stop at whole foods the night before...
you should be able to get all the ingredients at whole foods or trader joes...
good luck:)
* 1 1/2 cups ground almonds
* 1 1/2 cups ground walnuts
* 1/4 cup sesame seeds
* 1/2 cup pine nuts
* 1/2 cup raisins or dried cranberries
* 1 cup dried blueberries
* 3/4 cup agave nectar, maple syrup or molasses
* cinnamon, cardamom or nutmeg (optional)
Preheat oven to 275°F.
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. The mixture will be somewhat sticky. Using wet fingers press it down into a 7x11-inch baking dish that has been sprayed with canola oil spray. Bake for 30 minutes to one hour depending on how toasty you prefer it. Cool and then cut into 16 pieces. Store in your refrigerator.
Nutrition Info

Here is something I snarfed off the net years ago. I don't use them in races or training, but they are OK for hiking. Despite the name, I don't think they taste much like powerbars (a plus, in my opinion).
Home-made "powerballs"
Ingredients:
24 dried figs
1/3 cup honey
4 tbsp. orange juice
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. canola oil
1/4 cup dark corn syrup
2 egg whites
1 cup oat bran
Directions:
Add figs, honey, orange juice and 2 tbsp. lemon juice to food processor and mix on "chop" setting until figs are finely cut. Set aside. Put remaining ingredients (except oat bran) in mixing bowl. Beat with electric mixer for 3-4 minutes at medium speed. Add fig mixture until everything blends. Roll 20-24 balls and coat with oat bran poured on plate. Place balls on pan and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until warm and a bit puffy. Place in refrigerator to harden.
and here's another I haven't tried:
1-1/2 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup wheat germ
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/3 cup corn, safflower, or light olive oil
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup RAW sugar (not white refined sugar)
1 tablespoon finely grated orange peel (California orange NOT Florida)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup orange juice (fresh JUICED from those California oranges)
1 cup chopped dried figs
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/2 cup chopped almonds
Combine flours, sugar, wheat, wheat germ, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In smaller bowl, blend eggs, butter, honey, molasses, orange peel, vanilla, and orange juice with wire whip. Add liquid to dry ingredients; whip until smooth. Add figs, raisins, and almonds.
Spread in a greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F oven for 35 minutes, until it tests done.
Reply:nope sounds good though
